staff team of texas state cru
Marc and Amy Woodruff
We both graduated from Texas A&M and have been on staff since 1999. We've been here at Texas State since 2001. We love working with students because it is such a crucial time in their lives. As students they are making so many major decision that will effect the rest of their lives. We have three great boys. Marc likes to read, exercise when he gets motivated and loves listening to NPR in the car. When Amy gets free time she also likes to read, exercise and spend time with close friends.
Caroline Smith
This is my first year as an intern with Cru! I just graduated from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, TX and am looking forward to moving back to the Texas hill country. I have not previously been with Cru so I am excited to learn and grow in this process. The thing I am most eager about is getting to know all of the students and watch how God is working in each and every one of us! A few things about me; I love cooking, mountain biking, and being in good company. Can't wait to meet everyone!
Nathan Rowell
I just joined Campus Crusade for Christ @ TX State this August as a staff intern! I graduated in 2009 with a BBA in Business Management. Working with college students (“our country’s leaders of tomorrow” as I refer to them) is going to be such an incredible opportunity! In my spare time, I love to do anything outdoors. I enjoy going for long distance bike rides, kayaking, longboarding, sand volleyball, camping/hiking trips…as long as it’s in the sun! I also enjoy going to concerts, grilling BBQ with people I know and love, and having discussions about the greatness of our Savior.
Katy McDermott
This is my first year to intern. I am excited about working with Cru because it was the staff of Crusade that had a tremendous influence on my relationship with the Lord and I want to help make that same difference in other student's lives. In my spare time I love to watch movies, read, and hang out with friends.
Oscar and Liz Amaya
Oscar grew up in Austin, and Liz in the small town of Pleasanton, just south of San Antonio. We met each other as students, right here at Texas State University. After graduating, we married and came on full-time staff with Campus Crusade. We spent 9 years in Nacogdoches, at SFA, and moved back here to work at our alma matter in 2007. College students have great energy, and a unique opportunity to impact the world. We love being a part of the life-transformation that takes place while a student is in college. We, along with our 3 children, like to play games and spend time outdoors. You might even see our family hanging out at Sewell sometime.
Salena Allen
When I went away to college at Texas Tech, I quickly became involved with Campus Crusade for Christ. After graduating college in 2000, I spent two years in Samara, Russia with Cru investing in Russian college students. When I returned back to the states in the summer of 2003, I joined staff with Campus Crusade for Christ full-time. I have been at Texas State since spring '06. I love the place in life where college students are at, searching to figure out exactly who they are and what they want to be. And I love being apart of that journey with them. When I am not hanging out with college students, I like to hangout in Austin with friends, enjoy a cup of joe at a hip coffee shop, work out, watch Texas Tech football and lay out by the pool.
Erin and JaLynn O'Brien
JaLynn and I joined staff with Campus Crusade in 1995 and have been here in San Marcos ever since. We love seeing Christ change lives like He changed ours in college at Texas A&M. When I'm not on campus I like to ride my road bike, piddle on my ’52 Chevy truck, play with my kids, take walks with my bride, exercise, eat chips & salsa. JaLynn stays busy parenting and homeschooling our 6 kids.

Trey joined a fraternity his freshmen year at Texas State right after becoming a Christian through Young Life at Frontier Ranch, Colorado We met while in college and we joined staff with Cru one week after we married. Trey loves going on dates with his wife and daughters (13 and 10), playing soccer and wii with his son (7) and off road riding in his old jeep. Julie Kate loves the Arts, traveling, hiking in the mountains, the sun, good books, and being in community with others.
